Larry's 3rd album, Long Road Back Home, out now!
"The making of Long Road Back Home was unusual to say the least. It began in 2023 with a series of lucid dreams in which I would be playing and singing songs — songs I should mention — I had not yet written. Other musicians would at times appear in these dreams adding their unique and soulful sauce to the mix.
In the morning, I would grab my guitar and write down all I could remember from these nocturnal sessions. While I found this odd, I never questioned their source. On the strength of these encounters, I booked studio time at Wind River Studios in the Santa Cruz mountains, along with Keith Greeninger to produce the album that would become Long Road Back Home. I left the rest to kismet.
Long Road Back Home is a collection of 11 tunes written from the vantage point of a well-seasoned singer-songwriter looking at life’s joys, sorrows and mysteries in search of understanding and forgiveness. Such is the human condition of time and circumstance.
A few of these songs were written some years back but relegated to shoeboxes of handwritten fragments and complete songs never played again. Something, however, kept tugging on me to sift through these boxes of once-inspired thoughts only to find many held more relevance today than when first written all those years ago. I took this as a sign that, like us, songs travel. Perhaps our orbits through space and time simply became aligned, synchronized, or maybe it was just their time to be born.
Some long roads back home are lined with kindness and love, with only brief detours around or through life’s rough patches. Such has been my experience."
